Basel - Geneva - Madrid - Barcelona

I had a good trip to Geneva with my mother and then a nice flight to Madrid where I met my friend and stayed with him until yesterday morning. He hired a car for a couple of days and we discovered the surroundings of madrid together which was very nice. The weather was mostly fine, only the last day it porred with rain which was a very special experience really. Walking in the rain in the botanical garden, watching the yellow leaves falling down the trees was somewhat quite melancholic and cosy at the same time. Together with someone, discovering the city under the umbrella makes the experience quite special.
The train trip from Madrid to Barcelona yesterday was really nice and
interesting. The train was wonderful and so was the view out of the window. The speed was usually 200 km/h.
They also put a film on and I had a very interesting neighbour who is a
journalist my age and has experienced heaps in his life (he had been a war journalist for 8 years). So you can imagine that the 5 hour trip to Barcelona was eventually very short. He also helped me to get very close to the hostel I am staying now and I was received very nicely here also. It's all fine so far. In the evening I went to the harbour to get information about the boat. They could not tell me yet whether it really will leave on Thursday and asked me to call again today in the evening (Wednesday, October 27). So I'll do that and see whether we will leave tomorrow or whether I will get the chance to enjoy the city for more days :-).
Actually I am really looking forward to this experience. It's a very special one because I have done nothing similar so far. I hope it's going to be a good one.

It is the same day now but at eleven at night. Today I visited the houses of Gaudi (very impressive and very beautiful) and the Quartier Gotique, which was very nice as well. Unfortunately it started raining in the evening and still is. So there is nothing much I will do. Maybe talk to some people here in the hostel before I go to sleep.

Actually, I called the ship agency again today and they confirmed that the boat will leave tomorrow in the afternoon and that I should be there at 4 PM. So it seams that the big day really has arrived and that I will finally get on that boat. I guess this boat trip will be one of the biggest adventures of this trip and I am quite curious and of course a bit excited and anxious.

I guess my nex report will be put into the web from Argentina which will not be before about 2 1/2 or two weeks.
So I am happy if you are with me in your thoughts because it is always nice to know to be accompanied.
More from me on this channel soon :-) and looking forward to news from you too!
